Example of a configurable product

To add a computer as a configurable product:
  1. Log in your administrator panel and click on the Product configurator link in the Catalog side box on the left.
  2. There are three sections: Steps, Product groups, Compatibility classes on the Product configurator page.
    1. In the Steps section add the desired steps of assembling by using the Add new step(s) form.
      EXAMPLE: First step: Required products (motherboard, processor and etc); second step: Periphery components (printer, modem and etc).
    2. In the Product groups section create groups of products by using the Add new product group(s) form.
      EXAMPLE: Product group name: Motherboards, step: Required products, display type: Selectbox.

      There are the following display types:

      - Selectbox
      - Radiogroup
      - Checkbox
    3. In the Compatibility classes section:
      • Create classes of products and assign them to the groups by using Add new classes form.
        EXAMPLE:
        Class name: Intel Motherboards, group: Motherboards;
        Class name: AMD Motherboards, group: Motherboards;
        Class name: Intel Processors, group: Processors;
        Class name: AMD Processors, group: Processors;
      • Click on the details link of the first class.
      • Add a product to the Defined class products section by using the Add product(s) to this section form.
      • Add compatible classes to the Compatible with classes section by using the Add new compatible classes form.
      • Repeat these actions for the other classes.
        NOTE: The Intel Motherboards and Intel Processors classes should be compatible with each other, the same is for the AMD Motherboards and AMD Processors ones.
        NOTE: If customer selects a product, for example, from the Intel Motherboards class he will not be able to select products from the AMD Processors one.
  3. Add a new product (e.g. Desktop PC) or edit the existing one on the Manage products page. The link to this page is in the CATALOG side box on the left.
  4. Enable the Configurable product: check box in the Detailed information section on the Update products page for this product.
  5. Click on the Save changes button. The Configuration tab will be displayed.
  6. In the Configuration section, apply the desired product groups to the product, set up configuration by default by using the Default configuration products section and set up the required product groups using the Required check box.
