Setting up a tax

To set up a tax:
  1. Log in your administrator panel and create necessary destinations on the Manage destinations page (the link to this page in the SHIPPINGS/TAXES side box on the left of the page).
  2. Open the Manage taxes page (the link to this page is in SHIPPINGS/TAXES side box on the left of the page).
  3. Add a new tax or edit the existing one by clicking on the Edit button. When click on the Edit button the Tax properties page will be open. On that page:
    1. Enter the desired tax rate into the input field of the created destination in the Tax rates section.
    2. Select the address depending on which this tax will be added to the product (Shipping address or Billing address) in the Rates depend on field.
    3. Select if the tax rate will be included to the product price or not in the Price includes tax: option.
    4. Click on the Update button.
      NOTE: You can enable the Show price includes taxes option on the Appearance page (the Appearance settings link to this page in the LOOK AND FEEL side box on the left of the page).
  4. Apply the tax to products. You are able to apply the tax to all products (1) or to the certain products (2):
    1. Select the check box next to the name of this tax and click on the Apply selected taxes to all products button on the Manage taxes page.
    2. Open the details page of the product (to see this page click on the Manage products link in the CATALOG side box, choose the desired product and click on its link) to which you would like to add the tax, choose this tax in the select box of the Product taxes: option and click on the Save changes button.
To apply the tax to a shipping method:
  1. Open the details page of the shipping method (to see this page click on the Shipping methods link in the SHIPPINGS/TAXES side box, choose the desired shipping method and click on its link).
  2. Choose this tax in the select box of the Taxes: option.
  3. Click on the Update button.
